Rational:

This poster showcases the major themes as well as the most influential characters in the novel. The background represents the town of Maycomb Alabama which is mostly farmland. A major theme in the novel was the loss of innocence because of the battle between good and evil. Tom Robinson is featured because he was a victim of injustice. He lost his obvious innocence in the trial because he was black and was accused by an evil white man. Scout and Jem have question marks near them because they are the young and innocent trying to comprehend the actions of people in the real adult world. They are constantly maturing in the novel trying to distinguish what is right and wrong through the help of their father, Atticus, who has played the voice of reason in the novel. Boo Radley's face is in the middle because he symbolizes the most important 'mockingbird' in the novel. In the end of the book, Boo is recognized as a hero and not a monster by saving Scout and Jem. His face is blurred because Mr. Tate decides to leave him out of the story of Bob Ewells death in respect of his privacy. "It's a sin to kill a mockingbird." This is an important quote that sums up the entire novel. Mockingbirds are considered innocent, good birds who only sing songs. To kill one would be a sin because they don't do anything wrong. Multiple characters in the novel can be considered as mockingbirds, for they are the innocent people who were attacked by evil. You should not judge someone before you know them.
